11. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
The Episode
In honor of the release of Furious 7, we recalled the best/worst movie in the series, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006). For this very special episode we strayed a bit from our regular format. This time, only one of us has seen it. Is it possible to recall a movie you've never seen? Pretty much.

During the Tokyo Drift podcast I mentioned that some B-roll was taken at very slow speeds. This gives incredibly short shrift to the world-renowned stunt drivers – including drift champion and stunt driver Rhys Millen (behind the wheel of the famous spiral drift skyward stunt) and big deal champion rallycross, X Games and formula drift driver Tanner Foust. My understatement was painfully obvious, but let’s go ahead and thank director Justin Lin for featuring real cars. Thanks also to the many stunt drivers and camera operators who took incredible risks to capture footage for Tokyo Drift – it’s kind of magic. In total, IMDB lists 141 people with “stunt” in their credit. We give each and every one of them our respect, plus a deeply meaningful look that may or may not be romantic depending on whether or not we’re behind the wheel of a $bajillion car.
Also, none of us were familiar with the Alabama native who plays main character Sean in Tokyo Drift, but it turns out his name is Lucas Black and he is quite handsome and has been in a lot of movies, including Slingblade. His IMDB bio makes it clear he does not alter his accent, you guys. That’s part of the deal.
(Sorry, Lucas! We’re terrible.)
